What We Believe
About the Bible
We believe that the Bible is God’s message to people and was written exactly as He wanted it. We often refer to it as God’s “word,” and it is the standard for all that we believe and do.
About God
We believe in God. He has always existed and always will. He created everything else that exists and remains in absolute control of His creation. We believe that there is only one God and that He is the unity of three equal persons; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Son took on human nature and lived on earth as the person of Jesus Christ. In this way Jesus is both God and man.
About Humanity
We believe that God created humans in His image and as such they were morally perfect. Sadly, people chose to reject God’s authority and to disobey His instructions. Because of this choice, all humans became separated from God and subject to His judgement. Restoration of the initial relationship with God is beyond human capability.
About Salvation
We believe that God has provided a means of rescuing people from the consequences of their wrong choice. God the Son, in the person of Jesus Christ, gave His life in payment for the judgement that would have fallen on every person. His resurrection from death proves that His payment was sufficient. Each person now has the choice of accepting or rejecting His gift of salvation. Those accepting the gift do so by expressing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that this faith is the only way of escaping God’s judgement.
About the Church
We believe that everyone who has received God’s gift of salvation is a member of the church. Jesus Christ is the head of this universal church. Local churches are comprised of individuals within a community that gather together for such purposes as fellowship, worship, prayer, teaching, support, and the sharing of their beliefs with others.
