Music Ministry

Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart, always and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.
(Ephesians 5:19-20)

As music was an important part of worship throughout the history of the Hebrew nation and the New Testament church, at BFA we love to incorporate music in our worship.  Our musicians are organized into six teams which open the service on a rotating schedule:  Strings, Praise Band, All Ages Praise, Percussion, etc.  God has given the church a wealth of different styles of music, and we enjoy exploring them.

From classic gospel songs to rich chorales to contemporary praise songs, each style of music has its own unique characteristics and appeal.  The teams consist of an Opener and musicians who together pick out congregational and perhaps special music songs to fit the morning's message, coordinating the music with readings, prayer, and announcements.  The assembly has a CCLI license and SongSelect service so that teams can make full use of the video projector and screen.

For special occasions such as Christmas we organize ensembles such as a choir or small orchestra. Other events in which we enjoy the ministry of our musicians are the Christmas Candlelight service, the Good Friday service, and the more informal Music Nights which are scheduled about four times a year.
