BFA Celebrates Easter 2014

April 18, 2014

This year's preparations for BFA's Easter began weeks prior with a survey requested by the Elders on the time of the service. After an almost unanimous agreement from the assembly, the meeting time was set for Good Friday Service to start at 11 am. This year, around seventy joined BFA to worship in our Good Friday Service” In a wonderful blend of both classic and contemporary music, this years service started with a contemplative and reflective classic approach. Vickie led with a reflective organ prelude. Following opening prayer, Jody and Ryan shared scriptures as we witnessed once again the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus. “O Sacred Head” was sung, followed by Mrs. D. Sharing her powerful poem; “Superscriptions”. Vickie then played “Hallelujah, what a Saviour”. It was awesome as the final verse was played.....all the stops were pulled out and the entire building shock with the praise of Jesus. The second half of this time began with Trevor and Hannah leading in worship. “Once Again”, “The Holy Heart” and “Jesus we Thank you” rounded out the time of worship. Then Cary continued our series on “The Darkest Hour”. A video presentation of “How Love Wins” brought all to a more realization of God's grace. Hannah concluded our time as she sang “Forever.” which powerfully summed up both the cross and the resurrection. He is alive! Phil summarized our time and concluded with prayer.

On Easter Sunday, BFA celebrations began with a SonRise Breakfast at 8 am. Eggs, (of all sorts) and bacon, fruit, and pancakes filled our plates. Over forty joined for this time of fellowship and fun. This was followed by the breaking of bread worship time. Many had tears as we thought on the love of Jesus and the power of the resurrection. At 11 am, around 60 met together to worship and remember He is Risen! Dave and Vickie H. did a special reading of 1 Cor 15, set to the music of Handel. This was so well done and seem to catch the special importance of these verses. An Easter choir composed of over a dozen BFA'ers sang three numbers, “Hallelujah”... I will Rise; In Christ Alone” along with piano, organ, drums, violin and flute. Dave J. Shared “Seven Reasons to Believe” The time was concluded with a men's quartet singing “I will praise Him”. We were thankful to all that participated in the various parts of these services, and to those who came out. Truly “God is good” and this weekend was a special time of worship and praise.
