He is Risen....BFA celebrates the Resurrection!
April 24, 2011
He is not here, He has risen, just as He said. Matt. 28:6
This past weekend believers at Bible Fellowship Assembly celebrated the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our time of celebration began Friday night at seven pm with Chester Donaldson opening with a prayer of thanksgiving and dedication of the evening. We then had a joyous number by the Carman Locke Band entitled "Because He lives". The tone of the music then became more reflective and somber, as seven families shared in selected Biblical topical readings. These Bible readings ranged from looking at Jesus as the Tree of Life, to seeing Him as the rejected foundation stone. Interspersed with these readings were congregational hymns such as "Man of Sorrows" and "In Christ Alone". Andrew Lucking sang and played guitar in "Lead me to the Cross" while Hannah McNulty performed a solo piece at the piano and vocal of "At the Cross". Musical instruments included piano, keyboard, vocal, violin, tin-whistle, rhythm and electric guitar. The Osawa family read the passages referring to "Jesus is the Light in darkness" while Joanne Cimprich shared scripture on "Jesus the Entrance to the Holy Place" Amanda Ferron performed a Capella piece entitled "Why?" Marion Donaldson next shared her poem "At the feast" The entire congregation rose to sing as our conclusion to this very worshipful time with "Worthy is the Lamb. Ted Bendell concluded the service with prayer.
While the weather had snowed on Saturday, Sunday dawned cool and sunny. BFA'ers returned to the Chapel building at eight am. to enjoy a wonderful breakfast consisting of jowl bacon, eggs, fruit salad, fried potatoes, juice and coffee and other fine foods. Around twenty joined for this part of the celebration. We then moved into the sanctuary to think again of the cost of our salvation as we broke bread together.
Following our time of sharing communion, we spent some more time fellowship with believers. As a new event, a short video was shared fifteen minutes prior to the family Bible Hour entitled "Following Jesus" This vignette allowed us to review again the life of Christ from the perspective of what it might have looked like had the disciples had "Twitter" on cell phones.
Family Bible Hour was again blessed by the sweet strains of violin strings as the congregation sang "He arose" and other resurrection hymns. Cary Geno then shared a powerful message on the meaning of Easter. All in all, believers at Bible Fellowship were grateful for this special time to remember the meaning associated with the death and resurrection of Jesus.
