Kuujjuaraapik - Great Whale Mission 2011
November 25, 2011
Last July, youth and members from Bible Fellowship Assembly joined in with four other churches to drive thirteen hours to La Grande, QC. There eighteen boarded a plane to fly on to Kuujjuaraapik, located in western Quebec on the eastern shores of Hudson Bay.
The purpose for this third mission to Nunavit was to continue ministering and showing God's love to the Inuit and Cree children. With each year's passing, our youth's ministry to these people has increased in it's effectiveness. We have learned to listen to what God purpose is for us. Our sponsors, David and Joanna Bouck of Northern Canada Evangelical Mission, have taught us much about first nations people. They report that our annual mission to the far north has had a positive effect on David and Joanna's total year-round ministry.
This mission trip has also been a blessing to our youth and adults team participants as well. Daily the team witnessed the reality of life in this isolated communities. They saw, first hand, northern life and its effects on youth, living conditions, despair, and the challenges most children face each day. They also witnessed the power of Christ's love and its immediate results.
As one of the team co-coordinators Wally Bidwell reported, "This was now our third mission to this community. One of the young boys asked us why we keep coming back. We responded that we keep coming back because we love them. He (who is also a young man of few words) responded 'I love you guys too.' God willing, we plan to return again next summer in July 2012. Planning and fund raising activities for next years mission will be starting shortly! We covet your prayers and support!"
